Kandy Greater Water Scheme • Completed 2022

Municipal Water Treatment Plant & Pumping SCADA

Engineering Overview

Electromechanical turnkey package for a 40,000 m³/day municipal water intake, filtration, and high-lift pumping scheme providing clean drinking water to over 250,000 residents.

The Challenge

Water hammer shocks on sudden power failure risked catastrophic pipeline rupture, requiring synchronized electrical valve deceleration and automated soft-stop pump sequences.

The Engineering Solution

Implemented multi-motor 450kW Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) panels with built-in surge vessel monitoring and automatic ramp-down algorithms, backed by dual utility power feeders and instant diesel generator changeover.
