132kV / 33kV Primary Transmission Substation

Kilinochchi, Northern Province • Completed 2020

132kV / 33kV Primary Transmission Substation

Engineering Overview

Major provincial power grid infrastructure project strengthening regional electricity stability in Sri Lanka's Northern Province, connecting local 33kV distribution networks directly to the 132kV national grid backbone.

The Challenge

Logistical transportation of heavy 63MVA transformers across regional bridges and installation during extreme monsoon conditions without soil subsidence.

The Engineering Solution

Engineered reinforced piling foundations, specialized hydraulic multi-axle trailer transport, and automated oil purification degassing systems on-site before energization.

132kV / 33kV Primary Transmission Substation installation
